Low/No Spray Varieties

VineSmith recognizes that climate change is threatening the production of vinifera varieties in the Mid-Atlantic region. We have planted 40 varieties that we are evaluating for disease tolerance, cold hardiness and timing of bud break. So far, we have applied no fungicides except on varieties that are highly susceptible to black rot; in those cases, we applied mancozeb once or twice a season. You can see a list of the varieties that we’re evaluating and follow our observations HERE. Check back often because we’re constantly updating our notes.
